Privacy Policy

The short version

Pantry helps you track the ingredients you have on hand and surfaces the recipes you can cook right now. We designed it to collect as little personal information as possible.

Your pantry items and recipes belong to you, and we don't sell your data. Pantry may show ads in the future to help keep the app free β€” see the Advertising section below for what that means for your data.

Information we collect

Pantry data you create. The ingredients, recipes, and notes you add are stored so the app can match recipes to what you have. This data stays on your device and, if you enable it, syncs through your device's iCloud account.

Subscription status. If you subscribe to Pantry Pro, Apple processes the payment and tells us whether your subscription is active. We never see your card details.

Diagnostics. If you opt in, Apple may share anonymous crash and performance data to help us fix bugs.

Barcode scanning & Open Food Facts

When you scan a barcode, Pantry sends only that barcode number to the Open Food Facts database to look up the product name, brand, and photo. This request doesn't include any personal information about you.

Open Food Facts is an independent, open project. Their handling of requests is governed by their own privacy policy at world.openfoodfacts.org.

How we use your information

To match recipes to your pantry in real time, to keep your subscription working, and to diagnose and fix problems. If we introduce ads, we may also use limited information to show and measure them, as described in the Advertising section below.

Advertising

Pantry doesn't show ads today, but we plan to introduce them in the future to help keep the app free. When we do, ads may be delivered by third-party advertising partners.

To serve and measure ads, these partners may collect limited information such as a device advertising identifier, general (non-precise) location, and app usage. They won't receive your pantry items, recipes, or the contents of your barcode scans.

On iOS you stay in control: you'll be asked for permission before any tracking, and you can limit ad personalization at any time in your device's Settings under Privacy & Security. Subscribing to Pantry Pro will remove ads. We'll update this policy with the specific partners we use before any ads go live.

Sharing

We don't sell or rent your personal information. We share data only with the service providers needed to run the app β€” Apple (for subscriptions, iCloud sync, and diagnostics), Open Food Facts (for barcode lookups), and, once ads launch, our advertising partners (as described in the Advertising section) β€” and only as described above.

Data retention & deletion

Your pantry and recipes live on your device (and in your iCloud, if enabled). You can delete items at any time inside the app, and removing the app removes its local data. To request deletion of anything we hold, email us and we'll take care of it.

Children

Pantry is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the date below and, where appropriate, note the change in the app.
